The Essence of Bin 180
Bin 180 was made with fruit from esteemed Penfolds vineyards that emerged as standouts from the 2021 vintage.
Cabernet from Block 10 and Shiraz from Block 5, both in
Coonawarra, South Australia. Consistent contributors in the past for not only Grange, but also Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon and Bin 169 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon.
We can’t underestimate the significance of these blocks to Penfolds, nor the long-standing relationship between Penfolds and Coonawarra.

2021 Vintage Conditions
An outstanding vintage: Coonawarra experienced a drier than average winter. However, the total rainfall over the growing season was just below the long-term average.
Spring was notably warm, November especially, up +3°C on the norm. There were 7 spring days with minimum temperatures <2°C, however none of these were below 0°C and no frost damage was reported.
Conditions for flowering were the best reported in 20 years resulting in excellent fruit set. February was wetter than average with a timely inch of rain falling over the 5th and 6th.

A COLLECTOR'S ITEM
Available globally, the limited-edition Bin 180 750ml encapsulates the progress, tradition, and spirit of Penfolds winemaking legacy.
Crafted with a sustainable wood-like paper texture, the design mirrors the ultra-limited Bin 180 3L edition, featuring 18 panels. Each representing every decade of Penfolds' rich history.

FROM BARREL TO ART PIECE
This ultra-rare 3L release encapsulates the progress, tradition, and spirit of Penfolds winemaking legacy. Select parcels of exceptional Coonawarra fruit from the 2021 vintage were selected and expertly blended. The wooden gift box was handcrafted by renowned South Australian artisan Andrew Bartlett. It pays homage to Penfolds rich tradition of winemaking excellence and craftsmanship.

Residing in Adelaide, South Australia, Bartlett first collaborated with Penfolds in 2012, for the design of Penfolds highly collectable Ampoule Cabinet, which housed the 2004 Block 42 Kalimna Cabernet Sauvignon.
For the Bin 180 project, Bartlett’s design uses French barrel wood presented in a modern aesthetic and features 18 wood panels representing each decade of Penfolds history.
